{"id":132,"date":"2025-12-29T14:31:39","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:31:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/melissabizrelief.miic.gov.jm\/?p=132"},"modified":"2025-12-29T14:31:39","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:31:39","slug":"dcfs-special-registration-window","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/melissabizrelief.miic.gov.jm\/?p=132","title":{"rendered":"DCFS SPECIAL REGISTRATION WINDOW"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In&nbsp;response to the impact of Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica, the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies (DCFS) is&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;the <strong>Special Registration of Registered Charitable Organizations (RCO)<\/strong>&nbsp;to aid in national relief and recovery efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Features of the Special Registration window:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fast-Track Processing: <\/strong>Applications will be processed within ten (10) working days.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Temporary Registration Period: <\/strong>Certificates will be issued for the period November 17,\u00a02025\u00a0to May 31, 2026.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Type of Registered Charitable Organizations: <\/strong>Only Unincorporated groups will be registered.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Automatic Closure: <\/strong>All Specially Registered Charitable Organizations will be automatically wound up\u00a0at\u00a0May 31,\u00a02026\u00a0the end of the six-month period.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Streamlined Process: <\/strong>Administrative and Operations Management Policies and Procedures will be temporarily waived for this period.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No Renewals Required: <\/strong>Charitable status is valid for the six-month relief period only and will not be renewed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Closure of Accounts: <\/strong>All accounts with the DCFS and Tax Administration of Jamaica must be closed at the end of the period.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No Registration Fee<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Entities must be seeking registration for the following Charitable purposes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The prevention or relief of poverty.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The advancement of good citizenship or community development.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The advancement of environmental protection or improvement.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The relief of those in need because of temporary disadvantages such as the effect of public disorder or public emergency.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For details and application forms, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/dcfs.gov.jm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/dcfs.gov.jm\/<\/a>&nbsp;or contact the Charities Authority at <a href=\"mailto:info@dcfs.gov.jm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">info@dcfs.gov.jm<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In&nbsp;response to the impact of Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica, the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies (DCFS) is&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;the Special Registration of Registered Charitable Organizations (RCO)&nbsp;to aid in national relief and recovery efforts.&nbsp;
